Crista & Alvaro in Florencia
Since Crista has grown up in Guatemala, the magic of the ruins in Antigua Guatemala is pretty much lost on her. Her and her husband both prefer the tranquility of nature to the memories of Spanish Colonialism her ancestors suffered through. So instead of hosting their session in the ruins of Antigua Guatemala and since her wedding ceremony hosted incredible views of Volcan Agua, we drove through the rain into the mountains, parked on the side of the road, and hiked into a forest in search of a backdrop the couple would love. I certainly wasn’t expecting to find something this beautiful so close to Antigua Guatemala, but I’m glad we did. I think we were all pretty blown away by the results.
It was my first time shooting in Parque Florencia and it was worth waking up before sunrise, driving through the rain, and braving the unusually cold temperatures. When we arrived to Florencia, I took a brief stroll as Crista and Alvaro changed out of their sweaters and heavy jackets and into attire from their wedding day. As I walked, I noticed that everywhere I turned there was a stunning backdrop for photos. It was an incredible morning for photos and the rain stoped just in time for us to get some amazing photos without getting totally drenched.
